Summary

This thesis investigates the feasibility of incorporating dredged sediments into 3D-printable geopolymers to support circular and low-carbon construction. Dredged sediments were characterised for water content, particle size and organic matter and integrated into a geopolymer mix based on fly ash and slag. Printability was assessed experimentally, followed by the design and construction of a modular lab-scale extrusion-based 3D printer. Finally, printed specimens were mechanically evaluated to determine compression strength and interlayer bonding. The study demonstrates the potential of dredged sediments as sustainable aggregates in geopolymer 3D printing and identifies key factors influencing print quality and structural behaviour.
