Summary

This research explores the potential for cultivating collaborative learning experiences using Augmented Reality (AR) in cultural heritage settings. The design process involved all stakeholders - museum educators, teachers, students, and AR industry professionals - to create educational workshops for two different contexts.  The research proposes a pedagogical framework to help museum educators integrate shared AR into their teaching practices. The framework focuses on the co-creation of AR content within a situated learning environment. The value of the workshop lies not only in achieving learning objectives in situ, but also in enabling heritage sites to store and display AR spots as part of a co-created tour of the institution. Students apply new knowledge in an action-oriented learning environment through hands-on experience, critical thinking and problem solving in a real-world context.
