Samenvatting

The transportation sector is pivotal in shifting from fossil fuels to sustainable energy. The European Union's decision to ban gasoline and diesel vehicles by 2035 has spurred electric vehicle (EV) sales, emphasizing the need for expansive charging infrastructure and efficient power grid management. Amid fluctuating energy prices, businesses are compelled towards dynamic pricing.

Energy Management Systems (EMS) have surfaced to govern EV charging, particularly when coupled with photovoltaic (PV) systems. The Energy Scheduler stands out, aiming to optimize charging schedules by weighing costs, grid load, and EV user requirements. However, the current system doesn't adjust for real-time solar power prediction variances.

This thesis evaluates the Energy Scheduler's efficacy, proposing its enhancement via a Real-Time Control mechanism to make charging more responsive to immediate conditions. The study further investigates the merits of a charger-integrated user interface (UI) and introduces a comprehensive Evaluation Framework suitable for both simulated and actual testing environments.
