Beyond the screen: Exploring the psychological impact of the ‘MultiTech Lifestyles’ on the cancer journey - Laußegger, M. (Marion)

Summary

In today's technology-driven world, devices like smartwatches, smartphones, and laptops have become integral to our everyday lives. Their impact extends beyond convenience and personal use, playing a significant role in various sectors, including healthcare. The rapid pace of technological innovation continually introduces new terms as technologies and applications evolve, each capturing a specific facet of technology's impact on society.

The “MultiTech Lifestyle” framework has been developed in response to this evolving landscape. This framework offers a holistic approach to understanding technology’s role throughout a cancer journey. It acknowledges the interconnected nature of technologies and their influence on various challenges and the impact on the mental well-being of cancer patients along their journey. The framework addresses the limitations of conventional design processes, which often fail to capture the complete state of the art of technology usage and its complex interactions by neglecting the potential of standard technologies. By embracing the “MultiTech Lifestyle,” a more comprehensive understanding of how technology shapes and influences the cancer journey can be gained, which will help to gain a better understanding of the contribution of technology during challenging times.
