This thesis explores the integration of Augmented Reality (AR) within Benchmark Electronics B.V. AR is a promising technology that offers the potential to enhance productivity and efficiency within industrial applications, but technological immaturity hinders widespread adoption. The study contextualizes AR within the broader landscape of emerging technologies, highlighting difficulties in the current development and implementation of reliable AR solutions.

As it is essential for companies to position themselves in the AR market to gain a competitive advantage, this thesis proposes a structured framework for the development of AR technologies, working around its technological immaturity. This includes the development of a hands-on tool to enable data-informed design, which is utilized throughout the entire development cycle at different company levels.

This research provides Benchmark with a comprehensive roadmap to leverage AR technology, aligning their short-term goals with long-term strategic vision and offering recommendations for future applications and continuous improvement in AR deployment.
