Summary
An experimental research on enhancement of thermal contact conductance (TCC) in vacuum on commonly used metals of two surface roughnesses was conducted. Enhancement methods investigated were soft metallic coatings, soft metallic foils, polymeric foils, and composite foils. The TCC was measured over a wide range of contact pressures. The coatings were applied by electroplating, at low thickness. The enhancement of TCC compared to the bare joint situation, and the reproducibility of TCC using the coatings and foils were evaluated.
